Wonderful Daydream

Well, a fun first NaNoWriMo week it has been so far. Some impressions:

- Writing in a noisy bar, while drinking incredible amounts of mint tea, was definitely pleasurable.
- My decision not to count words until this Sunday was a good one, however I did not stick with it. The idea was the moment you know how many words you actually have managed to write down, the focus is potentially to become a negative one, one of ‘darn…I still have so many to go’, opposed to ‘Damn I’m good, I’ve already written so much. I’m close to 8.000 now.
- Working close to full time is proving difficult. Sometimes I have to battle an inner war of priorities. So far, work has won.

The Nanowrimo forums have been an inspiration, as much as they have been fun. I’ve subscribed to some rss feeds, and one that really got me laughing out loud was a guy who asked in the ‘erotic fiction’ forum, if anyone had an idea as to what anal lubricants people would have used in the middle ages. He didn’t care much for the story to be as authentic as possible, but to put it in his words ‘he couldn’t make the MC whip out a tube KY lube’. Another interesting question was how to write a ‘tasteful’ rape scene.

I must say it’s equally fun as it is frustrating to have to write, day in day out. But, my imagination, or my intuition telling me where to go next, have not yet failed me.

Although I’m reluctant to reveal anything of my story line, I can confirm the rumors that it will contain a one eyed cat, listening to name of Jules.
